Personal Mission

Personal mission or evangelism is 100% relational. It can be as easy or as deep as the relationship allows.

Personal mission or evangelism is 100% relational. It can be as easy or as deep as the relationship allows. This makes it achievable to all who seek to follow Jesus. All mission starts off easy: as you share time and space with your neighbours you might find the relationship evolves into a deeper connection with much more impacting and confronting conversations.

At John Knox Rangiora, Personal Mission is part of our DNA. We are all called to:

  1. Smile, be polite. If the message is joyful and hope-fuelled, so too should the messenger be.
  2. Take an interest, show empathy. No one cares what you know until they know that you care.
  3. Identify yourself as a Christian and with your church. Be clear where your hope and faith is grounded. (Being careful not to do step 3 and beyond if unable to do steps 1 and 2!)
  4. Speak prophetically. Pray or reveal God’s heart for the world of the listener, in the language of the listener.
  5. Invoke a response. Give space and opportunity for those you encounter to be a part of what God is doing, in a way that makes sense to them.
